HOME SWEET HOME

We are going home tomorrow! Mark had a wonderful week. He is really excited about going home. He is going to be discharged tomorrow before his facial CT scan at St. Vincent's. Many of the therapists and nurses are amazed at his progress.

God is awesome!

We will follow up with outpatient rehab for speech, physical, and occupational therapy. Mark says he will be ready to compete again by December. I don't think his surgeons will agree with him, but it is nice to hear him set a goal.

I will bring Mark to the gym soon. I know he will enjoy watching the classes.

Goodnight, Chrissy

Mark's story stickied at the top of Sherdog MMA's forum

After speaking to the editors at Sherdog.com, they were nice enough to allow me to post about what happened to Mark and even stickied it at the top of the page. Mark has received many well wishes there.

http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f2/professional-mma-fighter-instructor-cri...

Please go there and see how the MMA community pulls together when one of their own is in need.

Thanks so much to www.sherdog.com, their entire staff, and the members who have said such nice things!

BTW, the forums here are working now as well, you just log in with the same username and password as the main site. I have set up a page for people to leave Mark messages of support and well wishes, you can view it here.

Morning and Saturday classes

Sorry to have to cut some of the classes out but I just don't have the time to keep them all going. My work schedule is changing. Classes Monday thru Thursday will remain the same. Only Monday and Wednesday morning classes and Saturday classes will have to be set aside for awhile. I hope you all understand.

Mark is calm today.

His hiccups have disappeared and he appears to be more comfortable. He has remained calm most of the day. Thank God, he needed some rest.

I have talked to so many of you lately who say you are worried about me.

Mark

Mark is still in a heightened state of activity and confusion. He continues to respond to simple commands but more complex commands cause responses that are without purpose.

Footprints in the sand

Tammy V. you are so right. Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. I know there are only one set of footprints in the sand right now. The poem fits perfect.

What a night/day!

Mark is keeping me and the nurses busy trying to get out of the bed on his own. We have started taking him into the bathroom with a walker. He really has given us no choice. He refuses to get in the wheelchair most of the time. He is only supposed to apply light pressure to his right leg so it makes it extremely difficult to assist him with the walker. Unlike intensive/constant care, the rehabilitation programs do not use restraint techniques. The only thing they can do is put netting over his bed. I do not want them to do this.
